Abstract: A bacterial strain capable of degrading bifenthrin was isolated from wastewater treatment sludges, and was designated as TS1. This strain was gram negative bacilli, and it could take bifenthrin as its sole carbon source. In order to optimize the reaction condition for bifenthrin degradation, the effects of initial pH,culture temperature, initial bifenthrin concentration, rotate speed of shaker, carbon source concentration, inoculum size of bifenthrindegradation strains were examined. It was shown that the optimal condition for bifenthrin degradation by TS1 was as follows: pH 70, 30℃, 200 mg·L-1 initial bifenthrin, 150 r·min-1 shaking speed, 10% inoculum size, 100 mg·L-1 glucose as exogenous carbon source.
