Abstract: It analyzed the aesthetics implication of the traditional ice crack element in formal and implication beauty. Combined with various examples， it demonstrated the characteristics of ice crack application in traditional and modern landscape design. Then a design concept was put forward that the abstract features of the traditional elements with rich cultural connotations could be extracted from the classical gardens， and then be transformated in the aspect of visual， function and significance， so as to create “innovative and Chinese”landscape design.
