Abstract: Taking the young scapes of Gasteria armstrongi varieg. as explants, the regeneration of their adventitious shoot and germplasm innovation were performed in this preliminary study. Calli induced on MS +4.0 mg·L-1 6-BA +03 mg·L-1 IBA medium were cultured for differentiation on MS media supplemented with various concentrations of 6-BA and NAA, and the MS+001 mg·L-1 NAA was the appropriate medium. Three types of adventitious shoot could be regenerated from calli, and the induction frequency of chimeric ones was 1477%, which could behave autotrophic growth normally. The results demons.rated that the regeneration of adventitious shoot via chimeric callus could bring about new type chimeras, which might be a new feasible and efficient method for germplasm innovation in plant chimeras.
