Temporal and spatial variations of rural tourism development in age of big data

Abstract: In order to study the temporal and spatial variations of rural tourism development in age of big data, the article searched network attention of rural tourism in 2011-2013 by stack keywords, 83 pilot projects of leisure agriculture and rural tourism in China based on surfing engine of Baidu index, which was in combination with contrastive analysis on contribution of agriculture in different areas. The results showed that: firstly, the network attention of rural tourism had an accelerate growth in 2011-2013; secondly, the highest network attention was on Tuesday in a week, while the lowest was on Saturday; thirdly, the tourist seasons in a year were “March to June” and “October to December”; fourthly, the network attention of Qingming Festival, May Day and Dragon Boat Festival were higher than other holidays; fifthly, the developments of agriculture in Central China, South China and Northeast areas were better than their rural tourism, while the comparisons in Southwest and Northwest were opposite.
