Abstract: Chinese sacbrood bee disease is one of the serious diseases of Chinese honeybee, Apis cerana cerana. In this study, a RT-PCR method was developed to detect Chinese sacbrood bee virus (CSBV). Furthermore, an epidemiological investigation of CSBV in Chun'an County of Zhejiang Province was conducted based on the new method. The results showed that the developed RT-PCR method had a good repeatability, a sharp specificity and a high sensibility, whose minimum detecting concentration was 37 fg·mL-1. The epidemiology of CSBV was investigated from 34 sample sites of 17 townships around Qiandao Lake area. The CSBV detection of 13 townships was positive, in which the infection rate was over 50 % at 6 towns. The high infection rate of CSBV may be related to the high density and mixture honeybee species keeping. In conclusion, the epidemic situation of Chinese sacbrood bee disease in Chun'an County was clarified and provided useful information for the disease control.
