Abstract: A marine fungal strain NJ0104, isolated from marine sediments near Nanji island sea, Wenzhou, Zhejiang, could produce active metabolites against bacterial pathogen of Pseudosciaena. To identify this strain, morphological and ITS-58S rDNA regions of the strain was amplified through PCR reaction and sequenced. Mycelium showed a polybranch morphology, there was no nucleus, but septum were present in the mycelium and produced conidiospores. The length of ITS sequence was 1027 bp. The results of morphological observation and genetic relationship of strain NJ0104 was close to Arthinium and the similarity was more than 98%. Based upon the combination of phenotypic and genotypic data, the strain was identified as Arthrinium sp.
