Abstract: Chalcone synthase gene is a key gene in flavonoid biosynthetic pathway and plays important roles in plant development and stress response.Full length primer pairs were designed according to known chalcone synthase gene sequence. The gene, designated BACHS,was isolated successfidly from leaf genomic DNA and flower bud cDNA of Chinese kale (Brassica albograbra),respectively.Genomie DNA of BACHS gene is 1 263 bp in length with one intro of 75 bp.Complete coding sequence of BACHS is 1 188 bp in length encoding 395 amino acids.Protein sequence comparison showed that BACHS shared high homology with those of crucifer plants and there were only few diferences in amino acid residues.
