Abstract: As a new economic form， the rural creative economy was developing fast， in which condition the farmers， who are the subject of rural economic development， were faced with some new requirements. To learn more about the competency requirement to rural households in the creative economy， 12 indicators for the measurement of famers selfdevelopment ability were put forward on the basis of previous qualitative analysis in order to set corresponding talent ability training plans and promote rural economic prosperity. Using the survey data from Yangling agricultural hightech demonstration area in Shaanxi Province， 4 main factors including new development ability， communication ability， emergency ability and general ability were extracted according to principal component analysis， which were used as the main quantitative indicators to evaluate the famers selfdevelopment ability. Combined with the actual data and correlation verification， it is concluded that these 4 factors have positive correlation with the economic benefit of farmers．
