Abstract: To investigate the shade\|tolerance of indoor hanging plants, several physiological and biochemical indexes, such as the chlorophyll fluorescence parameters, growth increment, specific leaf area, leaf water content, chlorophyll content were determined in 12 indoor hanging plant species under 3 differential shade conditions. This study did principal component analysis of various indicators, and then the method of membership function was used to analysis the ordering of plant shade tolerance in 12 hanging species. The results showed that indexes such as chlorophyll fluorescence parameters were significantly different under differential shade conditions, shade\|tolerance of 12 hanging plant species from strong to weak order was Columnea cv. Yellow, Hoya Carnosa cv. Variegata, Aeschynanthus cv. Milk mouth, Aeschynanthus cv. Variegata, Columnea cv. Guangzhou, Ficus pumila cv. Variegata, Columnea cv. Long Zhu, Scindapsus Aureun cv. Golden, Aeschynanthus cv. Upright, Aeschynanthus cv. Round leaves and red flowers, Aeschynanthus cv. Cui Jin, Columnea cv. Orange.
