Abstract: In order to investigate prevalence of Cryptosporidium spp. in yaks in Hongyuan County, in this study, Cryptosporidium isolates from 216 fecal samples were identified by nest-PCR method (including 18 diarrhea fecal samples). Total infection rate of Cryptosporidium was 14.8%. It showed that prevalence of Cryptosporidium bovis, C. ryanae and C. andersoni was 3.7%, 5.1% and 6.0%, respectively. However, no Cryptosporidium spp. was detected in 18 diarrhea fecal samples. Above results showed that yaks were natural hosts of Cryptosporidium spp.. But in this study, no obvious correlation existed between Cryptosporidium spp. and diarrhea, and the relationship between Cryptosporidium spp. and diarrhea in yaks should be further explored.
