Influencing factors and research progress on transformation of watermelon by Agrobacterium

Abstract: Agrobacterium\|mediated genetic transformation was the commonly used method in the watermelon genetic engineering. On the basis of an introduction about the influencing factors of Agrobacterium\|mediated transformation of watermelon and the application of transgenic watermelon, this study summarized the major influencing factors in genetic transformation process of watermelon, such as the strain of Agrobacterium, the type of vector, the age of seedling, the type of explants, pre\|culture time, co\|culture time, the concentration and time of infection, the type and concentration of antibiotics and the concentration of acetosyringone. The application value and achievement of transgenic watermelon were also reviewed.
