Abstract: Crop straw is the main by-product of agricultural production. Carbonization is an effective way of straw resource utilization. In the present study， a continuous thermal radiant straw carbonization furnace was designed， together with a control system for biomass continuous carbonization. The control system consisted of ATmega16 chip and the PC color touch screen module which was based on the low-power ARM architecture CPU core. The communication of the system was realized by the Modbus protocol. After a test trial， it was shown that the carbonization furnace structure was reasonable and reliable. The structure of control system was simple， and could meet the requirements of continuous carbonization process of crop straw.
